2002 Dodge Dakota V8 iat sensor wire?

The intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is a variable resistor. The IAT sensor has a signal circuit and a low reference circuit. The IAT sensor measures the temperature of the air entering the engine. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 volts to the IAT signal circuit, and a ground for the IAT low reference circuit. When the IAT sensor is cold, the sensor resistance is high. When the air temperature increases, the sensor resistance decreases. With high sensor resistance, the ECM detects a high voltage on the IAT signal circuit. With lower sensor resistance, the ECM detects a lower voltage on the IAT signal circuit.

The IAT is internal to the Mass Airflow Sensor. The unit is uaually just reffered to as the MAF, or MAT/IAT. The wire colors are as follows.

ground is the dark blue/dark green wire and the hot wire is the red and brown one

The IAT sensor is on the left side of the intake manifold/plenum. Here is the info from the service manual for your reference. The sensor is listed as #2 in the picture.

The intake manifold air temperature (IAT) sensor (3) is installed into the left side of intake manifold plenum.

1.Disconnect electrical connector from IAT sensor.
2.Clean dirt from intake manifold at sensor base.
3.Gently lift on small plastic release tab (4) and rotate sensor about 1/4 turn counter-clockwise for removal.
4.Check condition of sensor o-ring.

It is on the driver's side of the engine's intake manifold below the throttle body

The intake manifold air temperature (IAT) sensor (1) is located near the throttle body.

1.Disconnect electrical connector (2) from IAT sensor.

2.Clean dirt from sensor base.
3.Gently lift on small plastic release tab (3) and rotate sensor about 1/4 turn counter-clockwise for removal.
4.Check condition of sensor o-ring (2).
